Project Overview: Keeping Operations Moving

When Pacific Steel & Recycling in Great Falls, Montana needed a roof replacement, the challenge wasn’t just the roof—it was continuity. Shutting down operations would have meant halting employees, disrupting customers, and interrupting daily production. That simply wasn’t an option for a facility built around constant movement and logistics. That’s where Protech Steel and Apex Steel came together to design a smarter solution—one that prioritized durability and business continuity.

The Solution: Trap-T Roof Recovery System

Instead of removing the existing roof, the team utilized the Trap-T panel system as a roof recovery application, installing directly over the existing roof assembly. This approach eliminated tear-off, reduced labor time, and—most importantly—allowed Pacific Steel & Recycling to remain fully operational throughout the project. The Trap-T system is engineered to accommodate thermal movement, maintain watertightness, and integrate seamlessly with proper eave, ridge, and trim details. The Finish: Function Meets Design

With the roof complete, attention turned to the building exterior. The office portion was finished with a 16″ Flush Soffit in a Smooth Cedar finish, delivering a warm, refined look that elevated the customer-facing side of the facility. In contrast, the industrial sections were clad in PBR panel, reinforcing durability and function where it mattered most. The result is a facility that performs under demanding conditions while presenting a clean, intentional aesthetic—proof that smart system selection and strong partnerships can solve complex problems without slowing business down.

The 1″ × 16″ Flush Soffit panel delivers a clean, architectural finish with the strength of 24-ga steel, making it ideal for long, uninterrupted wall and soffit applications.

 

Finished in a woodgrain texture with black accent trim, the panels run the full length of the wall to eliminate visible seams and maintain a crisp, uniform appearance. Precision roll-forming and concealed fastening details provide a refined look while ensuring durability and long-term performance.
